Subdeb Forced to Hard Drive to Down Willy Lasts to Gain Nose Decision In Omahas Man o War Purse OMAHA, Neb., May 27. Subdeb carried the silks of Morrey Kobey of Hay ward, I Calif., to victory in the fifth event, which was styled the Man o War Purse, a claim- j ing event for four-year-olds and older in a test of six furlongs. This miss, having good early speed, stayed close to the early pace and then, after being taken to the inside entering the home stretch, closed strongly to take command a sixteenth away, was j forced to a hard drive by jockey L. Whiting j in the final seventy yards to stall off the swiftly closing Willy, and just lasted to win by a scant nose. Willy, very slow to settle into stride, closed strongly on the outside after being straightened away in the home stretch, was wearing the winner down at the finish. Cantwell, the early pacemaker, laster to save the show end of the 00 purse. The afternoons program of seven events was witnessed by a crowd of 4,000 fans j under ideal racing conditions. Close finishes seemed to be the order of the day when the first three events took the camera to tell the winners. Miss Feu completed the Daily Double and returned the fortunate holders the large pay-off of 73.80 for each ticket. J. O. Harts two-year-old colt Mia Mia graduated from the maiden ranks when she was returned the winner of the fourth event, which was for two-year-old maidens. This daughter of Malimou and Cogay was the first winner of the first four races to win all by herself. Irish Mag finished in second place, while Ulri Thots got up to take the show award of the purse.
