Deadline for Arlington Stakes An important date for horsemen to remember in connection with the Arlington meeting is June 15, the closing date for the first five stakes to be run at the North Side track. They are: The DesPlaines, the Primer, the Great Lakes, the Equipoise Mile and the Stars and Stripes. Of the remaining 16 stakes on the 36-day program, all of the others with the exception of the Classic, the Futurity, the Lassie and the Arlington Handicap will close within approximately 10 days of their running. The first three named are already closed, while the date for nominations for the 5,000 Handicap is July 1.
