Bunker Hill Lures Eight Contestants Abbe Pierre, Star Copy and Kingfisher Most Prominent Of Those in Suffolk Event Bunker Hill Handicap, ,000, Three -Year-Olds and Upward. One Mile. PP. Horse. Jockey. Wt. 1 — Kingfisher J. Renick 118 2— Samhar H. Claggett 107 3 — K. Dorko C. Stevenson 104 4— Eric Knight J. Dattilo 102 5 — Star Copy W. Turnbull 117 6 — Kansas D. Scocca 107 7— Sollure G. McMullen 100 8 — Abbe Pierre R. Sisto 118 BOSTON, Mass., June 16. — Eight of th» ten candidates nominated for the Bunker Hill Handicap have been named through the entry box to contest the mile ,000 added test that features the local holiday program at Suffolk Downs tomorrow. Of the original nomination list, Doublrab and Firebroom are the only absentees from the entry list. Top weight in this stellar offering goes to H. M. Babylons Abbe Pierre under 118 pounds. The English son of Brantome and Suze has been a double winner during the current session, his most recent triumph coming in the ,000 Puritan Handicap. Jockey Rocco Sisto, Providence, R. I., lad who piloted him in his stake triumph, has been given the mount. Star Copy, H. P. Metcalfs sterling filly, is asked to shoulder 117 pounds and the manner in which the Trace Call miss has been working indicates that an improved performance over her effort in the Governors Handicap, her only local effort, will be forthcoming. Willie Turnbull, leading rider of the meeting to date, will be astride the Metcalf colorbearer. Distance More to Kingfishers Liking Kingfisher, shipped here from New York for the Plymouth Rock Handicap last Sat- | urday, remained over to fulfill his engage- I ment in the Bunker Hill and probably will I be more suited at the distance of this test than in the six furlongs of his last. The Halcyon colt accounted for the Governors Handicap over the local strip, which was over the mile distance. A pair of three-year-olds in the company, who will not lack for support, are C. S. Bromleys Samhar. under 107, and Sollure, who races for H. G. Bedwell, under 100. Samhar is credited with the fastest mile of the meeting, having taken a condition affair last week in the fast time of 1:3725. Sollure was second in both of his last two stake outings. He was beaten in the last stride by Some Chance in the Plymouth Rock Handicap Saturday and in his previous outing just missed in the Commonwealth Handicap, dropping the decision by the matter of a nose to Woodford Lad. Under his light impost, Sollure should prove a stubborn foe. K. Dorko was unable to overcome his slow beginning in the Plymouth Rock and under 104 pounds, the Balko colt is almost certain to show an improved effort. Kansas, under 107 pounds, and Eric Knight, with 102, complete the field.
