MERITORIOUS, never far back and in hand to the stretch, came to the outside for the drive and, responding to brisk urging, disposed of the leaders in the closing strides. MAGNETISM, well handled, raced to the front early, set the pace to the final quarter under pressure from DUST CAP and, continuing gamely under punishment, just failed to withstand the winner. DUST CAP, a keen factor throughout, took a short lead when settled for the drive, but could not retain her advantage under strong handling. VENCI raced evenly to the stretch and then finished strongly. POMKEE faltered near the finish. TO BOOT went evenly without mishap. OVM.A began slowly. MUSKRAT raced poorlv. Won driving; second and third the same. PIPLAD, a keen factor from the start, moved up boldly on the ontside of LADY ROMERY approaching the stretch and, after taking command, withstood a brisk drive to hold STELL safe. The latter, never far back, came determinedly when hard urged in the stretch, but was not good enough for the winner. LADY ROMERY went to the front early, set the pace in the first half, then faltered. BERT W. finished well after beginning slowly. M1SS-I.AM was never prominent. QUARTO gave w?y after racing forwardly placed to the stretch. BACK PLAY began in a tanele, stumbled soon after the start and nearly went down, losing all chance. BIP, well placed from the start, took command approaching the stretch and, responding to mild urging, retained his advantage to the finish. FLORIZAN SAM impioved his position steadily the first half, came stoutly when roused for the drive, but was unable to reach the winner. HUGABIT, forwardly placed throughout, came to the inside entering the stretch and made a good bid before faltering near the finish. DARBY DIADEM finished fast after beinj outrun to the final quarter. COWLAN could not reach the leaders when put to punishment in hte stretch. VOLORIL could not threaten. SINGING SATIN, on the outside from the Start, failed to keep up when called upon in the stretch. MCE ENOUGH tired after racing well up during the first half. BENZEDRINE had brief early speed. Scratched— 4229? Lady Stardust, 106. Overweight — Hugabit, 1 pound. PANBROOM stumbled immediately after the start and was slow in getting back on his stride. CERBERUS was never prominent. JUG bore in the entire trip, losing all chance.
