Parker Holds High Hopes For Stallion Craig Park Son of Craig an Eran Bred To Twenty-Four Coast Mares LOS ANGELES. Calif.. June 16— Ivonj D. Parker, who has established a ranch of considerable size in San Fernando Valley, is confident that the imported stallion ; Craig Park, who, since arriving in Calif or- nia from Canada several seasons ago, has produced some useful racing stock, will go on to bigger and better things. Craig Park, who was previously owned jointly by Parker and Charles E. Cooper of Rancho San Luis Rey, was transferred from the latter place I several months ago after a dispersal sale | and has been bred to about two dozen mares on the Parker ranch this season. Transferred at the same time was the young stallion Better Bet, who was bred ] at Rancho San Luis Rey. He is by Bon Homme, one of Californias veteran sires who still stands at the San Diego County place. Craig Park, a sixteen-year-old by Craig an Eran. is the sire of several young horses who raced at the recent Bay Meadows meeting. He is from the mare Cup Tie, by Radium. The latter produced several good horses, one of whom was Torchbearer, the sire of Torchilla. The latter was standing In California at the time of his death last year. Radium is also the sire of Fatima II., dam of Pasha, another young California stallion. Pasha is at Howard Oots Brown Shasta Ranch. Ivon Parker is a Los Angeles business man and a brother of Claude Parker, southern California attorney, who for a time served as member of the California Horse Racing Board. He has been interested in horses for many years and has raced a string since the sport was revived on a large scale in the state about ten years ago. He formerly owned the stallion Richfield, I who is now doing stud duty on the farm of Earl Gilmore, president of the Hollywood Turf Club. Parker has a number of horses at Caliente in charge of Ted Bevan, who for some time was manager of the Hidden Valley Farm of Winfield Sheehan, motion j picture director, and Sheehan s wife, the I former Madam Jeritza of the Metropolitan I Opera Company. Among the mares on the Parker place . are the gray Chromium, a daughter of Sir Greysteel; Sarah W.. by Richfield; Quer-bell, by Easter Bells, and Bayamo, by North Star III. Bayamo is the dam of Bonamo, Bayamo Breeze and other useful runners. Parker paid ,000 for Chromium, who will , be used as a brood mare only.
