Brokers Tip to Remain At Ranch in California Son of Black Toney Stands At Ventura Four More Years VENTURA, Calif.. June 16.— Brokers Tip Kentucky-bred son of Black Toney and ! winner of the Kentucky Derby ten years I ago, will stand at Rancho Casitas here for the next four years. An agreement was recently reached between Mark T. Cox, owner of the stallion, and Walter Hoffman, Jr.. owner of the Ventura breeding , place where Brokers Tip has held court j for the past two years. Many young sons and daughters of Brokers Tip are scattered throughout the ; state as the result of his services since coming to Rancho Casitas. He has been j much in demand and has just completed , a season during which he was mated with I about thirty mares. Brokers Tip made nine starts in his career and won one i race, the Derby. He proved his worth as a producer by sending to the races Market Wise, one of Americas outstanding handicap horses. Owner Cox, who hails from Cheyenne, Wyo., and has extensive cattle breeding interests in that state, recently spent a week at Rancho Casitas, after which he shipped nine of his brood mares and three yearlings by Brokers Tip to his ranch. At one time his colors were prominent on I California tracks, being carried by San Luis Rey and other useful runners. The foaling season at Rancho Casitas was completed late in May with the ar- 1 rival of a colt by Ward Boss and fillies , by Brokers Tip and Dress Parade. The 1 latter stallion died early this year. The J colt is out of the mare Slang, by Sir Mar- ! tin, while the filly by Brokers Tip is from Return Check, by Alexander Pantages, and the one by Dress Parade is out of Blue Peggie, by Burgoo King.
