J. Barker; bred by Mrs. Silas B. Mason. WENT TO POST-5:21. OFF AT 5:21 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. UMPYDAN, away fast and under superb handling, raced nearest DIAMOND DICK until near the finish, responded to punishment and disposed of the latter during the final sixteenth. DIAMOND DICK, hustled to the front early, held a short lead when settled for the drive, but was unable to withstand the winner, although easily best of the others. SIR SPRITE moved up boldly entering the stretch, but could not better his positoin when hard ridden during the drive. MANY LANDS, outrun early, was on the outside throughout and failed to respond when roused for the stretch run. PLAY HANDS raced well to the last three-eighths, then weakened. SON FOREVER raced wide and never was dangerous. JIMMIE could not keep up. TIGER MAN began slowly and would not extend himself in the muddy footing. BUILDER was outrun after breaking fast. JOHN Q. PUBLIC had early speed, but failed to stay. INCRESCENT gave way after the opening quarter. Scratched— 84703 Air Sailor, 120. Overweight— Umpydan, 2 pounds; Play Hands, 2. SEVENTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. WISE PAISANO, forwardly placed from the beginning, was forced wide entering the stretch, came gamely when roused and wore down DARBY DIMOUT in the final strides. The latter, in the deepest going from the beginning, reached the lead when settled for the drive, but could not withstand the winner. TOP REWARD, slow to begin and outrun to the stretch, finished strongly under punishment. ONE ONLY went to the front early and made the pace to the stretch, then weakened. SAN YET failed to rally when set down in the drive. GALAPROX was never a serious factor. BOY-PLIN was outrun. PLOVER BRAND failed to stay after showing early speed. SEAPAR, outrun to the upper turn, came to the outside approaching the stretch and, responding readily to strong handling, disposed of EVERPLAYFUL in the closing strides. EVERPLAYFUL, never far back, went to the front after five furlongs, held a clear lead when settled. for the drive, but could not withstand the winner, although easily best of the others. HELENS BOY finished willingly under punishment. BUDS FIRST dropped back after beginning fast, then passed tired horses in the stretch. ERAZAL weakened after racing prominently to the stretch. GIANT STAR propped at the start, losing all chance. R0NCAT was outrun. SNOOKS WINTERS quit after racing forwardly placed to the stretch. CLIP CLOP was done early. Scratched— 98096 Ibex, 118.
