List Fourteen Probables ForTomasello Memorial Spangled Game, Valdina Lamar Pointing for Holiday Fixture SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 27. — With inclement weather prevailing for the opening of Suffolk Downs and the failure of two original features, to fill, racing secretary John Turner Sr. was forced to card an ordinary program consisting of six claiming and two maiden events for tomorrow. Top billing goes to the sixth race for four-year-olds and upward carrying a price tag of ,000 and to be contested over ,the six-furlong distance for a purse of ,000. With few exceptions, the sprinters expected to parade postward have appeared before the New England racing fans at the recently concluded Narragansett Park spring meeting and boast of six winners at the Rhode Island oval. The eighth renewal of the 0,000 Tom-asello Memorial Handicap at a mile and a sixteenth to be run on Memorial Day, only three days away. Secretary Turner was asked to tab the names of probables in this event. Fourteen potential starters were checked off, with the possibility of two or three more to be dropped in the entry box on Wednesday morning. The first name Turner checked off was that of Spangled Game. It is expected that he will accept the issue and make his 1946 debut, but he may need this race. Other possible starters are Do-Reigh-Mi, Valdina Lamar, F. B. Eye, Apropiado, Bill Hardey, Boy Soldier, Navy, Best Effort, Woodford Lad, Gabe Paul, Restless, All-pulch, Plebiscite and Dinner Party. The Tomasello Memorial pays tribute to the memory of the late Joseph Tomasello, one of the original stockholders of the Eastern Racing Association and the man who supervised the construction of the plant. It has been won in the past by such New England favorites as Deliberator in 1938, Battle Jack in 1939, Morcarine in 1940, Sweet Willow in 1941, Valdina Alpha in 1942, Through Bound in 1943, Mintlock in 1944, and West Fleet in 1945.
