Gallorette Leads From End to End Brann Filly Runs Mile and Sixteenth in 1 :43 to Whip War Trophy at Delaware DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 11. — Gaining innumerable admirers for her engagement in Saturdays rich Sussex Handicap, William L. Branns fine race filly Gallorette galloped to a popular victory over three rivals in the featured Ridgeville Purse here today. Shouldering 120 pounds and confidently ridden by Job Dean Jessop, Gallorette led from start to finish to complete the one mile and a sixteenth over a fast strip in 1 : 43, just two-fifths of a second off the track standard. At the wire, the sleek chestnut daughter of Challenger n. — Gallette was showing the way to Glen Riddle Farms War Trophy by a length and a quarter, with the latter six lengths clear of Cedar Farms George Case, the third horse. Christiana Stables Megogo, outrun from the start, brought up the rear. Qualifies for Sussex Fresh from well deserved triumphs in the Metropolitan and Nimba Handicaps at Belmont Park, Gallorette went off a pronounced favorite, with the enthusiastic throng of approximately 13,000, and she paid .40. There was straight and place wagering only. Assigned only 113 pounds for the impending Sussex Handicap, Gallorette now- must be regarded as one of the pre-race favorite for that one mile and a quarter event, regardless of the rivals she may engage. The mare always has raced well over the local track and such was the case today as she took the lead soon after the start, raced War Trophy into submission when the latter launched an unavailing challenge entering the stretch and then finished well in hand with Jessop peeking under his arm through the final sixteenth for opposition that failed to develop. War Trophy provided most of the opposition, although George Case did manage to forge into the runner-up position near the half mile pole. The Cedar Farms color-bearer gave up the chase midway on the turn and War Trophy came again to make futile pursuit of the winner through the losing drive.
