CHIEF BUD was sent to the front in the run for the first turn, opened a long lead, but had to be kept under pressure to hold HERES HARVEY safe. The latter, very sluggish in the early stages, improved his position on the outside, was sent through between horses in the stretch and finished fast on the inside. ERAZAL was forwardly placed throughout, went slightly wide entering the stretch and closed fast. PARI KING, under restraint early, moved up threateningly through the stretch and finished stoutly. MARKABILITY had early speed while racing closest to the winner, but tired. DAY DODGER could not threaten while saving ground. SPEEDWAY moved up on the outside on the turn, but tired. Overweight— Oles Gal, 3 pounds; Glastauder, 2; Vianfr, 1. Oles Gal claimed by H. Cantor. Heres Harvey claimed by M. Smith. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. FREE LANCE was in a contending position from the start, went slightly wide entering the stretch and hung on well. THISISIT was sent into a clear leadon the backstretch, saved ground-all the way, but weakened badly. RAY G. raced forwardly, but was unable to improve his position. AIR CADET closed some ground.
