Windsor Handicap Heads Detroit Mid-Week Card Golden Man and Gregalach Face Gold Mike in His Seasonal Bow FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 11. — The mid-week program at the Detroit Fair Grounds shows a pronounced improvement over the races offered on the less fashionable Monday and Tuesday cards. Dual features will be presented in the Windsor Handicap and the Mt. Clemens Purse, the former a six-furlong dash and the latter a gallop of a mile and a sixteenth. These are offered as the fifth and sixth races and are followed by two distance races including the nightcap number at about one mile over the turf course. The Windsor Handicap, which is endowed with a purse of ,500, attracted a half-dozen shifty sprinters and here Golden Man, who races for George Krehbiel, Detroit turf writer, appears to have an excellent chance to annex major honors. In his two local appearances the six-year-old son of Don Leon flashed early speed and was not f af back at the end. Against the competition that he is pitted tomorrow he is expected to last longer under the feather of 105 pounds. R. S. McLaughlins Gregalach looms as the most formidable opponent for Golden Man. The invader from Canada was the easiest sort of winner over speedy three-year-olds in his latest outing at this point and left the impression that he had another good race in reserve. While he is asked to compete with older horses, the son of Halcyon might be capable of upsetting calculations.
