TUEY TOY improved her position steadily in the backstretch, went through on the inside entering the stretch, raced SWOON into submission in the drive and held PLAY HANDS safe. The latter, slow to settle in best stride, moved up quickly on the outside on the turn and closed fast. DIMIT raced forwardly and evenly and hung on stubbornly. SWOON, away fastest, had early speed while racing on the outside of CLAREMONT MISS, but flattened out under pressure. MISS BOO was never dangerous CLAREMONT MISS quit after showing early speed. BOLO TIE, steadied close to the pace of VALDINA SENORA and on the outside, took command under pressure in the stretch and withstood a stiff challenge from BUILDER. The latter, forwardly placed from the beginning, responded to hard urging in the stretch to make a stout bid, but was not good enough. COLONEL READ, permitted to settle into stride, closed well when called upon. ZIG ZAG, far back early, finished with a rush. PUTITTHERE, forwardly placed on the outside, weakened under pressure. The latter lacked early speed while saving ground, was taken to the outside for the drive and was slowly wearing down the winner. TOLECA, closest to the early pace of TRUDIE DID, met the challenge of the winner briefly, but weakened. MAJETO, very sluggish early, passed tired horses. The latter improved his position steadily, went to the outside to move up -quickly through the stretch and finished well. SIN LEE, under restraint while saving ground all the way, weakened at the end. BERT G. improved his position gradually between horses and finished gamely. BONEVA M. had early speed, but flattened out. PASSAGEWAY could not engage the leaders. VALDINA STYLE quit badly after showing early speed. Overweight— Eliza Jane, 1 pound. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. SWEEP SWINGER, slow as usual early, moved up between horses in the backstretch, went to the front quickly on the outside on the turn, then drew clear, but had to be kept under mild pressure to hold PLOVER BRAND safe. The latter, under restraint in a contending position from the beginning, was not hurried until straight in the stretch, then closed gamely. B0Y-PLIN had early speed while racing with LESTABERT in the lead, hung on well, but was no match for the first two. B0NHEUR raced evenly. LESTABERT quit badly after showing early speed.
