Smith: bred by Kenneth N. Gilpin. WENT TO P0ST-5:26i. OFF AT 5:27 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. FOMENT, in hand while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, came out on the final turn and, after reaching the lead, held on gamely under brisk urging. HO-HO, reserved while saving ground to the upper turn, swerved to the inside, bumping SWING SISTER when subjected to punishment, then came again when clear, but was not good enough for the winner. TIME UP, outrun to the final quarter, finished fast on the outside. REPLICATION held on well to the stretch, then weakened. SWING SISTER went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch under pressure from REPLICATION, was tiring badly when bothered by HO-HO, then lost ground steadily thereafter. ROSE EXHIBIT had a rough trip. GREVILLE quit during the drive. JUST TOURIST raced wide. MONTREE was far back throughout, pulling up sore. .
