Quintet of Three-Year-Old Fillies Tests Speed in The Beasel Purse Darby dAbbie, Beecee, New Idea; Dutch Cut, Half After Tangle in Sprint .of Jamaica JAMAICA, L. L, N. Y., June 26.-116-year-old fillies occupy the feature spot on tomorrows Empire-at-Jamaica program, five of them meeting in The Beasel Purse at six furlongs for a ,000 prize. The quintet is composed of Darby Dan Farms Darby DAbbie, Allen T. Simmons Beedee, George D. Wideners Half After, Sanford Stud Farms New Idea and Deering Howes Dutch Cut. All carry 113 pounds. While these fillies are hardly the cream of the crop, they can all run a bit and promise to provide a keen contest. Darby DAbbie and Beedee won their last starts. The former scored a minor upset when she just lasted to beat the favored Ima Fastone a head in 1:13, which was good time for Aqueduct. Harrison B. Wilson, who rode her in that race, will again be astride tomorrow. Beedee also won a six-furlong race, but at Belmont, and Darby DAbbie was a well-beaten seventh in the same race. However, the Darby Dan filly has evidently improved. Eddie Arcaro is slated to ride Beedee. Dutch Cut has been running against somewhat better fillies, with varying success. In her last start, over at Belmont, she was beaten nearly six lengths by Bridal Flower, Aladear and Mush Mush, any ore of whom would romp in this test. Before that, Dutch Cut beat such as Pristine and Window Shopper at Belmont in a six-furlong dash run in 1:12. Returning After Months Absence New Idea has been away from the races since May 21, when she scored a romping victory over Jackawake and five others of no great consequence. This race was run in the same time as Dutch Cuts last triumph. Half After has also been absent for some time, her last appearance being on May 7, when she finished far back of Bonnie Beryl and Dutch Cut at Belmont. That race, incidentally, was probably Dutch Cuts best of the year, as she was only beaten a half length by Bonnie Beryl who was then at the peak of her form. On paper this shapes up as an open race, with the most recent form pointing to Darby dAbbie and Beedee, but class giving the edge to Dutch Cut and New Idea. Dutch Cut will probably be the post favorite, with Job Dean Jessop in the saddle. Trainer Max Hirsch and Robert Klebergs decision to keep King Ranchs Assault in the barns next Saturday resulted in a prompt increase in the size of the field for the 0,000 Empire City Stakes at a mile and three-sixteenths. Eight probable ROBERT J. DIENST Blenette carried his colors successfully in the Sysonby Purse on yesterdays Arlington program. starters can now be listed, with another possible starter. The probables at this writing are E. P. Taylors Windfields, Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Natchez, Vera S. Braggs Mist o Gold, River Edge Farms Salerno, Col. E. R. Bradleys Be Courageous, John B. Thealls Islam Prince and Mrs. Aksel Wich-f elds Cable. Mrs. Alfred Roberts War Watch, who set a track mark that may stand for a day or two at Monmouth yesterday, is also a possibility. E. P. Taylors Windfields, who will probably now be the choice in the Empire City on the strength of three straight victories followed by his place of second back of Assault in the Dwyer, worked well at Jamaica this morning. With Herb Lindberg, who will ride him Saturday, in the saddle, the Canadian colt went a half in :49, three-quarters in 1:14, mile in 1:41, and was eased up a mile and a furlong in 1 :54. While this was not a standout work from a time standpoint, the style in which he moved impressed work-watchers.
