Valley Forge Handicap Easy for Loser Weeper Finishes Two and Half Lengths Before Dart By for Third in Row GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 21. — Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts Loser Weeper, a home-bred son of Discovery and Outdone, accomplished his second stakes victory in as many week-ends when he easily downed the middle distance runners which contested this afternoons featured Valley Forge Handicap. With ideal racing weather for todays program, a crowd of approximately 27,000 wagered briskly throughout the afternoon and favorite players took down .40 for the usual investment when Hedley Wood-house brought Loser Weeper to the finish of the one-mile fixture in 1:39%. Two and a half lengths behind the four-year-old winner was Brookmeade Stables Dart By who downed Glen Riddle Farms Faraway by a half length. Russell A. Firestones Barrage, Barry Ryans* Touch Control, G. C. Hunts Blue Holly and E. A. Nicodemus Laran finished in the order named. The victory was the third in as many starts this year for Loser Weeper and, coming on the heels of last weeks Metropolitan score, augmented his earnings by 2,650, which gives him yearly earnings of 7,045. He wisely elected to ride a waiting race, as Barrage bounded to the lead from the inside. Dart By pressed the pace of Barrage during the early stages, with Blue Holly charging through along the inside to challenge for supremacy after a half mile. Barrage turned back that challenge without too much effort and had again attained a full length advantage as he moved by the quarter pole. Loser Weeper was about three lengths off the leader at this stage, but had not yet been asked for speed. Turning into the home lane, Woodhouse spotted racing room between horses and hustled his mount through the opening, and shortly thereafter, forged to the front as Barrage was showing signs of tiring. Dart By, however, was fighting it- out gamely, as Faraway had finally commenced to rally to the efforts of Jimmy Stout. The final drive was interesting but the result was hardly in doubt for the Discovery colt drew clear steadily, with Wood-house waiting for a rally which failed to develop. Dart By saved second honors as the erratic Faraway showed no desire to go by him.
