OUR PATRICE improved her position steadily while racing between horses in the early running to take command nearing the last eighth and, under a sustained drive, gradually drew out. THREE AND TWO, allowed to drop back soon after the start, rallied under pressure after a quarter and finished full of run. ISLE OF MIST broke alertly and showed good speed in the first quarter, but lacked a closing rally when the real test came. NEW LEAF raced with the leaders to the final eighth, where she gave way under punishment. SILK MOIRE suffered slight interference soon after the break, quickly recovered and rushed up between horses in the first three-eighths and had nothing left for the drive. PEGASUS II., taken under strong restraint at the break and hard held to the first three hurdles, began to advance while jumping cleanly after the fifth hurdle to wrest command from between horses on the last hedge and, under continued pressure, held his advantage. MAHLIMA, a forward factor from the beginning, got the lead between calls after the seventh hurdle and, after losing command nearing the last jump, came again in the closing strides. HALF HOUR was practically left at the start, began to improve his position after the sixth hurdle, stumbled at the eleventh hurdle and, when back in stride, was going fastest of all at the end. H HOUR assumed command at the fifth hurdle, lost the lead, was shuffled back when in close quarters nearing the last hedge and failed to rally when clear. NEW RULE tired badly after five hurdles.
