LITTLE TONY came to the inside on the turn, drew out when roused and won easily. GAY GUNNER was sent up on the outside, lost considerable ground on the turn and challenged mildly, but was no match for the winner. LADY WELCH, prominent between* horses early, was best of the others. MISS NAVAN0D had no excuse. HARD WAR bore out on the turn. SAX BEE was through early. QUIZZLE showed nothing. STEPPIN LIVELY quit and went wide coming out for the turn. PRINCE PORT AU dwelt at the start. OFF AT 2:34 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. BREAK THRU, prominent from the break, was eased back and came, to the inside on the turn, was blocked momentarily when straightened for the drive, went through on the rail and outfinished RIPPLING SAND. The latter was forced to. lose much ground on the turn, took command and, in the middle of the track, just missed. DONNA L. went into a clear lead after three furlongs and came to the inside on the turn, then weakened in the final furlong. YALE had no mishap. DOTS RISK showed nothing. FULL CRY quit. BERT-RAM flashed speed, then was taken in hand and. was eased after five furlongs, coming out of the race slightly lame. Daily Double on the First and Second Races Paid 3.40— Double Pool, 4,502. MAIN BET was on even terms for the lead on the rail, swung wide to be in the best of the footing while in a clear lead coming out of the turn, was hard put in the closing furlong, bore out in the closing stages and just lasted, but was disqualified and placed second. BIRD SHOT, away fast, was taken back sharply, moved up stoutly in the drive and was bothered in the final seventy yards. SPOTTY was a sharp factor from the break and had no excuse. SHASTA TURBAN was hustled along to reach the lead on the inside, drew out on the turn, was shaken up in the stretch and increased his margin under energetic handling. WAMEGO was steadied when outrun for the lead, moved up gamely in the stretch, but was. no match for the winner. JOURNAL made up ground steadily on the outside and weakened near the end, but lasted in a dead-heat for third with DRY BELT. The latter, far back as usual, closed with good courage. FOXSTEP quit. SUDDEN SCARE made the pace on the outside, came in when clear and faltered after being headed. CHANCE BEA, eased back on the rail approaching the turn, failed to rally in the drive. TECHNICOLOR showed speed for a half and weakened. RATION BOOK, slow to begin, closed resolutely.
