Twilight Card at Omaha Given Over to Claimers Middle Distance Racers Will See Action in Evensong Purse AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., June 8. — The Evensong Purse, a one mile and 70-yard event designed for members of the intermediate claiming category, tops tomorrows twilight program at this Omaha course. A field of 15 better-than-average middle distance performers were named to contest the Evensong, which should provide an interesting spectacle from a wagering standpoint. In addition to the nominal feature seven other evenly balanced races have been arranged for the afternoons agenda which is scheduled to get under way at 3:30 p. m. Selecting a definite favorite for the Evensong would indeed be a difficult task as several of the contemplated entrants have shown flashes of brilliancy which could easily make them the winner. Toreador Jo, owned by V. Hack, probably will garner his share of the mutuel wagering if his past performances here can be used as a criterion of his present form. Slated to contest with the Hack charge include such performers as Brown and Gillespies Kimino-la, E. E. Moores Good Fella, W. N. Rishels Buster Maedic, J. J. Arps Jess D., J. L. Coopers Turpsy Pride, J. E. Bostons Way the Best, O. K. Fuges Merry Mary, Paul Wilsons Vivian C, Fre-Oma Stables Sweet Girlie, J. P. Kampmeyers Larkmead Jane, R. Bass Deckhand, B. F. Lundys Miss Mary K„ G. W. Williams Little Lillian, and Ralph Powells Deep Red. Toreador Jo finished second to E. Cross Bill Bartlem in his latest trip postward and, previous to that engagement also gained the runner-up honors to the Cline Cattle Companys formidable Lazy Shoes in a six-furlong dash earlier in the meeting. Toreado Jo should show decided improvement from those two efforts and may finally earn his first victory here which has been eluding him by narrow margins. Merry Mary was bested in a photograph finish in her only appearance here in a sprint test and should be benefited by the added yardage of tomorrows conflict. Buster Maedic was also the victim of the camera in his last start and may forget to weaken near the finish tomorrow. Of the others, Way the Best, Deckhand and Lark-mead Jane have displayed rare gameness in their respective efforts and could gain the major portion of the purse should they choose to come forth with their best.
