OFF AT 2:29 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. LEGISLATOR, unhurried while saving ground and within striking distance, was taken to the outside for the drive and wore down ATOMIC ENERGY in the closing sixteenth. The latter made the early pace between horses, came to the inside on the turn, but could not resist the winner. POODOO delayed the start when returned to the paddock to replace a saddle weight which became disengaged at the gate, was a sharp factor on the inside during the running, moved up gamely in the stretch and faltered. SWESTEEL tired after racing prominently for five furlongs. ESS KAY quit in the drive. The latter was forced to lose some ground early while with the pace, came in when clear on the turn and faltered near the end. YOUNG GEORDIE was well placed from the break and closed resolutely. RAY OSULLIVAN was with the first flight on the rail and weakened in the closing stages. WAR PAGE had no excuse. NEWSWORTHY saved ground and had no mishap. MARKIGHT gave way in the drive after showing early speed. QUEEN KARLING quit. DAVID HILL, away tardily and slow to gain stride, went up with a rush between horses in the drive, disposed of the leaders and was going away. BEL KING worked his way up gradually between horses and outgamed ROBIN RED for the place. The ..t!£r.,was ,h.ust,eJ along to reach the lead, drew clear in the stretch under urging and weakened near the end. JANINA, off poorly and far back early, closed with a rush. STORMY McCABE held a slight lead on the rail early, held on willingly until the stretch and tired. SABSON was off poorly. DECK TALK gave way in the drive DR OLE NELSON gave way in the final furlong. SMUG trailed the latter half, bettered his position on the rail to be a sharp contender, disposed of RED DAWN and held ALL FOR FREE safe under energetic handling. The latter was steadied while well placed, went up on the outside when set down for the drive and closed strongly. HASTY FREEDOMS caught tired horses with a belated bid. IMPACT had, no excuse. RED DAWN steadily went into a long lead under hand urging, was hard put when straightened for the drive and quit. PRECEDER was outrun. LOVING TIES quit. WAR RULER was sent into command on the rail, was hard put for the final quarter and lasted over EASY DOUGH. The latter was well placed on the outside, lost some ground on the turn, moved up to be on even terms for the lead in the stretch and hung. VESUVIO held a slight lead between horses early, forged through on the rail to be with the pace in the stretch and faltered near the end. LEAVENWORTH saved ground and had no mishap. REPRODUCTION gave way in the drive as if short of a top effort. TEDDY REIGH, reserved early, threatened mildly in the stretch and gave way. Teddy Reigh claimed by H. D. Maggio.
