Large Crew Busy Preparing Ch ase Courses at Delaware DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 8- — Sharpe Craig, who is in " charge of maintenance of Delaware Parks four jumping courses and his 12-man crew, have completed construction of 14 brush jumps and are now setting up the hurdles. This work annually involves the use of some 40,000 six-foot cedar trees which are cut from an abandoned field in the vicinity of Hichmohd, Ya. ., = = - „ = nightly soaking the course with water. An elaborate sprinkling system delivers 150,000 gallons of water each 12 hours. This system is considered better than natural rainfall as it can be controlled. For instance, the footing on the take-off side of the jumps is kept firm while it is made soft on the landing side through constant watering. As usual, the infield course will be opened for schooling on Tuesdays and Fridays, 8:30 to 10:30 a. m., beginning Friday, JuneUQ, and. continuing throughout the meeting.
