Decide to Retire Mr. Busher To Stud Following Check-Up BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 8. — Mr. Busher, the chestnut son of War Admiral and Baby League, owned by the Maine Chance Farm, has been retired and will enter the stud next spring. The coming four-year-old will stand at Leslie Combs Spendthrift Farm near Lexington, Ky. Mr. Busher was purchased as a weanling by Mrs. Elizabeth Graham for a reported price of 0,000. He started four times as a two-year-old, winning three races for a total of 3,875. Two of the winning efforts were at Belmont Park, a maiden offering and the National Stallion Stakes. He then was shipped to Arlington Park and accounted for the Arlington Futurity. His next outing was in the Washington Park Futurity and he finished unplaced, coming out of the race with injuries that forced his retirement for the year. He was wintered at Columbia, S. C, and as a three-year-old failed to stand training, due to injuries. Yesterday at a meeting between Mrs. Graham, Leslie Combs, trainer George M. Odom and Mr. R. D. Connelly, his leg injuries were re-examined and the decision to retire him was reached. Mr. Busher during the winter sustained injuries to his leg, which was on the verge of a serious bow. His training schedule for early engagements was disrupted when he showed signs of a throat affliction and this brought about his withdrawal from the Derby, Preakness and Belmont. Mr. Busher will be shipped to Lexington some time next week and enter upon his stud duties next spring.
