GOOD SWEEP assumed command soon after the start, was allowed to draw clear, then placed under steadying restraint until challenged on the far turn, saved ground and continued on gamely under steady urging. LADY CAVITE kept within striking distance of the pace, rallied mildly in the final furlong. JOHNNIE C., unable to gain the lead early, was kept in close attendance of the pace, then lacked a closing rally. PARK FLAME was well up throughout in a good effort. DIATRIBE failed to make up appreciable ground when roused. MAXIMONT went evenly. OPEN PALM showed nothing. JOSEPH JR. was unable to reach serious contention. The others were outrun. COPYWRIGHT improved position gradually on the outside, moved abreast the leaders after straightening for the drive, bore over slightly, was quickly straightened and outfinished DONNA M. G. The latter set the pace under light urging, saved ground along the inside and held on gamely under pressure. BIG ELM moved into contention after a quarter, but was unable to reach the leaders under stout pressure. CHEVALIER forced the pace from the inside position, but weakened in the final sixteenth. MIDDLE MAN was in close quarters soon after the start, then went evenly when clear. EVEN BREAK failed to make up ground under intermittent urging. CHERRY CAKE was never prominent., The others were outrun. A claim of foul against the winner was disallowed. Daily Double on the First and Second Races Paid 1.80— Double Pool, 3,426. GEORGES GIRL broke alertly, was taken in hand and steadied close to the leader, continued under restraint until entering the lane, then drew out easily without pressure. GERTIES LAST, hustled to take an early lead, was under pressure to maintain position on the turn, then continued on gamely after giving way. HER GIFT was unable to make up appreciable ground with a late rush. JO-ANN HEATHER went evenly. VIO VIDEO rallied mildly in the closing stages. MAYME KLING flashed brief speed. RESPIRE, quickest to begin, opened a commanding lead in the first quarter mile, saved ground to maintain advantage entering the lane, then held on long enough to hold DANCING GOB. The latter was taken back off the early pace and placed under steadying restraint to the final quarter mile, responded when roused and was catching the winner. LUCKY INCIDENT, never far off the pace, lacked a closing rally. HIPPODROME passed tiring horses in the final stages. HAIR TONIC showed nothing. CHALDSON was never a serious factor. TAVISTOCK broke alertly, was in hand while following in closest attendance of the pace, made a mild challenge nearing the final quarter, but was not good enough. OIDENASAI, never far off the pace, failed to make up appreciable ground when set down. GROUND FOG worked his way up cn the outside, but lacked a closing rally. COLUMN had no mishap. 0. G. FIRST REWARD, quickest to begin, was placed under steadying restraint after maintaining a forward position, came through on the inside to gain the lead from SHINING DEED, then drew away as INSTANTER challenged. INSTANTER, kept close to the pace on the outside, moved willingly when set down, drew abreast the leader nearing the furlong pole, then faltered. WE HOPE, a forward factor throughout, rallied mildly nearing the end. SHINING DEED set the pace under light urging, held on gamely after giving way, then dropped back when caught in close quarters nearing the furlong pole. CRISIS passed tiring horses. TEDDY TARN went evenly. STICKER was never a prominent factor. HUCKLE DE BUCK raced wide entering the backstretch and failed to reach serious contention thereafter.
