Fair Grounds Re-Elects Officers for Coming Year Return Letellier to Presidency; Next Meet May Be Only 75 Days NEW ORLEANS, La., June 8.— John S. Letellier was re-elected president; Anthony Pelleteri, executive vice-president, and practically all members who served on the board of Fair Grounds, Inc., were renamed at the annual meeting held last evening in the clubhouse. Though president Letellier made no official announcement of the dates of next winters racing season, he did say the Fair Grounds had requested 1949-50 dates to start Thanksgiving Day, November 24, and 1 intimated that the track would not extend its meeting more than 75 days. It ran 90 days last winter. Plans were approved for construction of two new barns of large capacity and for general improvements, including enlargement of seating capacity of the clubhouse. Besides Messrs. Letellier and Pelleteri, other officials elected by the stockholders were Shirley C. Braselman, vice-president; F. W. Gaudin, secretary, and Richard G. Jones, treasurer. The board also will include E. F. Creek-more, John F. Reilly, Robert L. Simpson, Ray Cantrell, Robert M. Parker, Justin R. Querbes and J. C. Rathbone. Sylvester W. Labrot, prime mover in the organizing of the group of civic-minded businessmen who saved Fair Grounds from the auctioneers hammer half a dozen years ago, asked to have his name withdrawn as a director, as he has been ill and would be unable to attend meetings regularly.
