Cardinals Beat Giants, 5-2 As Staley Tosses Six-Hitter • ST. LOUIS, Mo., May 21 UP.— Gerry Staley and Nippy Jones teamed up to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 5-2 victory over the New York Giants today. Staley, aided by a brilliant defense, pitched six-hit ball and scored the winning run himself after getting on on a. fifth-inning Texas League single. Jones two-out double againstr the right field wali in» the fifth cleared the bases to provide, the winning margin of three runs. The Cardinals third straight victory moved them within8 a half game of second-place Chicago, and only a game and a half out of first place. It was the Redbirds fifth victory out of the last six with Philadelphia, Brooklyn and New York.
