Sun Bahram Scores Again At Garden State Course" Comes From Last Place to Beat High Trend in Rotary Club Purse By WILLIAM PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 24. — Mrs. E. H. Ellison, Jr.s, Sun Bahram, maintaining the. good form that he has been showing at this meeting, this afternoon captured the featured Rotary Club Purse. Coming from last position and far behind the pace, in his usual style, the five-year-old Bahram horse, rushed to the front entering the last sixteenth and gradually drew out to a winning margin of three-quarters of a length. Sam Greenfelds High Trend held on determinedly at the end and gained a nose verdict over Joseph Gaveg-nanos Directoire, who was third and six lengths clear of the other four starters. Sun Bahram was making his fourth appearance of the season today. His speed was first sharpened in a sprint race, after which he was a fast-closing fourth behind Ferd in the Valley Forge Handicap. He then decisively defeated a field similar to todays in his last start. As a heavy favorite with todays gathering; -Sun Bahram paid .40. It was one of the smallest crowds of the meeting, with only 12,843 in attendance. The weather was rather cool, with a Continued from Page Forty-Three Sun Bah ram Scores Again At Garden State Course Comes From Last Place to Beat High Trend in Rotary Club Purse Continued from Page One high overcast blotting out all jevidence of the sun. The track, which was a ring of water last night, dried put fast with the help of a strong wind this morning, and was termed good for the running of the Rotary. Sun Bahrains time for the one mile and a sixteenth was an exceptionally good 1:45%. High Trend, who competed in two sprint races before todays sortie, displayed excellent speed in the feature, and he slipped through on the inside to reach the front rounding into the backstretch. Cutting Edge and Crown Me also were prominently placed early, but both faded badly in the crucial run. Sun Bahram, meanwhile, was by himself while trailing the field and some eight lengths behind the pace. High Trend easily drew into a commanding lead under mild urging, but Sun Bahram was finding his stride and began to pick up speed passing the half-mile marker. After a moments hesitancy by his rider, Angelo Vasil, Sun Bahram was rushed between a close group of horses midway the turn and set out after High Trend. Directoire had remained under a light hold from jockey Fernando Fernandez, and alSo closed in on the top one. It appeared that there would be no contest when Sun Bahram went to the front, but High Trend had surprising tenacity and Directoire was still coming. Vasil then gave a rodeo exhibition by jumping up and down and slashing away furiously with his whip The punishment, was not pretty, but effective, and the winner was gradually inching forward at the end. 1 Cary C. Boshamers King Clover, who was brought here from the Kentucky Derby to win his next start, in the seventh race added another victory to his list and gained considerable prestige for the 0,000 added Jersey Sfakes which will close the season here on May 30. Frank Bone, using steels as a part of his equipment, sent the Isolater "colt surging forward between horses in the last stages of the one mile and a sixteenth event to gain the decision by a head over Savoy Stables Blue Speed. King Clover carried a high weight of 122 pounds to run the distance in 1:45% and returned a liberal mutuel of 1.
