Seven Contestants in Kentucky Derby Listed for 5,000 Peabody Memorial Royal Mustang, Ruhe, Phil D. And Fanfare Among Eligibles For Lincoln Holiday Feature WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., May 24. — The 5,00p added Peabody Memorial Stakes, traditional Memorial Day feature, which annually brings the Lincoln Fields Racing Association to the peak of its season, attracted the nominations of 34 three-year-olds. Heading the list of nominees are the four horses who finished second, third, fourth, and fifth to Count Turf in the Kentucky Derby. They are Sam E. Wilsons Royal Mustang, Mrs. Emil Denemarks Ruhe, W. C. Martins Phil D., and Calumet Farms Fanfare. Three others who also paraded pbstward in the Kentucky classic were nominated for the Peabody. They are Springbrook Farms Pur Sang, W. M, Peaveys Sir Bee Bum, and Wilsons Golden-Birch. Wilson also nominated Bugle-Drums and Devilna-tion. The Peabody is the first of the important three-year-old stakes of the Illinois season and is particularly important this year because of the uncertain situation in the sophomore division. This will be the twenty-third running of the Peabody, which was established in 1929 as a memorial to the late Francis S. Peabody and later to his son, Stuyvesant Peabody, former president of Lincoln Fields.
