True Neil Seeks Aurora Free-for-All Pace Event Veterans Finishing Power-Likely To Overwhelm His Six Opponents AURORA DOWNS, Aurora, HI., May 24. —True. Neil, co-holder of the fastest .pacer mile of the current meeting and the horse with the "Indian sign" on the fast class pacers racing in. the Midwest, gets another, chance to prove his ability to whin the best on the. grounds in a free-for-all pace at An rora Downs , Friday night. The 11-year-old True Volo brown gelding, owned and trained by Walter "PeeWee" Welch, to date has earned ,750 in seven starts. He has entered the charmed circle three times, finished second on two occasions and was fifth in the two other trips. Despite his age, True Neil can come the last eighth of a mile faster than any other horse on the grounds. The free-legged pacer, who doesnt wear anything but a harness, appears to be getting better with each season. The Welch-owned and piloted gelding drew third and fourth for the two-dash feature of the nine-race program. Although he is as sharp as ever, True Neil will have his work cut but Friday night. For the seven-horse field consists of Chief Mite, Mr. Dale, Red McKlyo, John Lee, Hand Book and Tempered Volo. And every one of these sidewheelers is capable, of clicking off fast miles. Mr. Dale and Tempered Volo are* the only horses in this event which havent won at this meeting. Chief Mite, Roy Riegles four-year-old Chief Abbedale black mare, drew the pole for the first mile and seventh for the nightcap. This mare has the reputation of being able to leave faster than any horse on the grounds. She racked Up a six and one-half furlongs win in 1:41% and covered the mile course in 2:07%. However, aside from True Neil, John Lee. displayed as much speed as any of-the field in his lone outing at Aurora Downs this, season. On May 7, the eight-year-old John Dillard brown gelding made every pole a winning one when he toured the half-mile oval in 2:06%. Under the capable guidance of Red Stiner, John Lee will leave from the fifth spot in the sixth race and sixth in the ninth race. Red McKlyo has a first and a second to his record in four starts to date. His win was timed in 2:07%. HandBook covered the course in 2:07% and was a tight second to True Neil in 2:06 his last mile. With only four horses declaring in for the Great Mid-West Pace, three-year-old race for an estimated ,500 purse, the management announced that the four juveniles will race for the purse monies starting at 6:30 p. m., with no pari-mutuel wagering. The field consists of Dale Wingay,-Floating Dream, Dusty Star and Pastime Judy.
