Yankees Humble Tigers, 11-1 To Maintain First Place Lead NEW YORK, N. Y., May 24 UP . — The overpowering New York Yankees won their 14th home game in 15 tries today and uncovered another starting pitcher in the process when lefty Joe Ostrowski kept Detroits 10 hits harmlessly spaced for an easy 11 to 1 decision. The Yankees put on a full scale assault against Tiger lefty, Bob Cain, who used to be a nemesis for them, when they gathered six runs on five hits and some weird defensive mistakes by Detroit in the sixth.
