DONQUEST steadily worked way forward, closed willingly under punishment, but could not get to the winner. GRANNY D., a keen factor from the beginning, reached the lead entering the stretch, but tired during the drive. MISS TEXAS began fast, but dropped back after the break, came again during the drive, but could not threaten the leaders. DOC STEARN was outrun. BOSS BROKER could not keep up. SPUNKY was hustled to the front early, made the pace to the final furlong, then was unable to withstand the top one. MONEY LENDER lacked early speed, went wide entering the stretch and could not get to the leaders when straightened for the drive. SALE PRICE began fast, but steadily lost ground after the start. U. lacked early speed, but closed fast under brisk handling. ROYTIG raced well until inside the stretch, was bothered during the drive -and tired- nearing. the finish. FEN ELANE* assumed command at the start, made the pace to the stretch, but had nothing left for the drive. WAYNE L was. never prominent. ORISKANY pulled up sore. LITTLE BOOKIE, never far back, reached the lead between calls nearing the finish;- but could not hold the top one and just missed. MISS PLACE lacked early speed, but finished fast. ETHEREAL, in close auarters during the final furlong, could not get to the leaders. GRANDE MONDE had a rough trip. BOLD ARROW began sluggishly. IMPRESSMENT tired after racing prominently to the last eighth. HIKES POINT was hustled to the front early, made the pace until inside the stretcli, then tired. AIRTR00P was never dangerous. BREAKFAST showed nothing. SING TU LEE raced prominently placed until inside the stretch, struck a horses heels when near the furlong pole and fell. Scratched— 30524 Colonel Pap, 112.
