Full Field Tests Speed ! In FairmoUnt Main Event Red Rudolph, Mister Plucky and U. S. Nayy Big Three in Sprint By C. A. LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, HI., May 31. Sprinters will again hold the spotlight when a full field of 12 starters matches strides Tuesday night in the ,500 French Village Purse, a six-furlong dash for three-year-olds and older horses. With the exception of a couple of horses, the field is made up of starters thus far at the meeting. Main contention appears to lie between the three horses, namely, Red Rudolph, Mister Plucky and U. S. Navy. Red Rudolph didnt fare so welkin his last start here in, the Maplewood Purse when he finished fourth to such horses as Harry-Lou and All Tilly in a six-furlong dash which was run over a slow racing strip. The five-year-old sprinter from the Al Tennis stable apparently did not favor the going and was a bit tardy in getting into his rest stride. He did make up some ground in the final stages but still was far back of the leaders. Two of his previous races here at the Collinsville course were rated as top performances and were decided over the fast racing strips. His outing previous to the Maplewood also was at six furlongs and he was a strongly closing second to Issybee in 1:12. His race prior to that was second to Pride of Judea, in which the time was hung up at 1:11. J. W. Norwine, a local owner, is sending his fleet sprinter, Mister Plucky, back in the French Village race to try for his first victory in five starts at the meeting. His last outing, in which he finished third to Glenn K. and Flying Trinity, was by far his best performance here this year. In that six-furlong dash he had the lead after going the first quarter, but was unable to hold it for more than a furlong. Even though he gave way on the far turn he was only beaten off by four and one-half lengths by some very speedy sprinters. He should benefit off that effort and be a strong contender in Tuesday nights feature. Probably best of the others in the French Village Purse is Mrs. Sam Orrs U. S. Navy, who seems to be just reaching her peak form. Her last start was on May 18 in which she stopped after having forced the early pace. Since, that outing, trainer Sam Orr has had her out in" several good workouts i and she now appears ready for a good effort I over the six furlongs distance.
