Nine Middle Distance Runners Clash Grant Park Purse Feature at Lincoln Blue Dare Rates Highly Off Recent Win Over Abbe Sting; . Bumper Crop to Have Support LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., May 31--Blue Dare, owned by the Emerald Hill Stable of Maurice A. White, of Chicago, heads a field of nine good middle distance runners who will meet in the Grant Park Purse, feature attraction on Tuesdays program at Lincoln Fields. The Grant Park, at a mile and one-sixteenth, is conditioned for four-year-olds and older horses and carries a purse of ,500. - .All but one of those entered for the Grant Park already have made public appearances at this meeting, and three of them, including Blue Dare, won their races. For Blue Dare, the Park Forest Purse at a mile and one-sixteenth on May 21 was the fifth start and his first win of the year. He started in a couple of stakes at Bowie before coming to Chicago. The five-year-old bay stallion, a son of Blue Swords Beedee, by Bimelech, beat Abbe Sting a nose in the Park Forest after making all the pace and repelling "Tiny" Keezeks horse, who came from far back to close strongly. Last year Blue Dare won the Roger Williams Handicap and was second in the New England Handicap. Three of Blue Dares opponents in Tuesdays Grant Park were in the beaten field behind the Emerald Hill stallion on May 21. These were H. C. Fruehauf s Bumper Crop, a winner five days later on May 26; Mrs. H. L. Nathensons Force of Arms, and Buddah " Stables Dance Nsing. Beat Four of His Rivals May 26 s In winning the mile and one-sixteenth N t Beecher Purse on May 26, Bumper Crop also beat four of those he will meet again Tuesday, namely Force of Arms, Mrs. i Thelma Otts Morbihan, Martin and McKin-neys Night-Phara and Hasty House Farms Seaward. The veteran stakes winner, Seaward, now nine, led to the stretch in the Beecher, and although eventually finishing seventh, was not beaten badly. Bumper Crop, a four-year-old colt by the South American Rico Monte, out of Early Harvest, by imported Sickle, is a graduate from the claiming ranks. He was claimed for ,000 at Hialeah last February. The Beecher was his third win in his four latest starts, marred only by his defeat by Blue Dare. Bumper Crop will have The Eagle, winner of two races this year, as a running mate if both members the Fruehauf entry start. Besides Blue Dare and Bumper Crop, another winner at this meeting is Carl Craigs Lion. The six-year-old gelding beat Dr. Ole Nelson, Floyd E., and others here on May 22. Prior to his two races at this meeting, Force of Arms had made two starts at Churchill Downs against stakes horses. In the first of these he finished fourth to Paytu and was then unplaced behind Money Broker.
