QUICK T., never far back, rallied from the outside when roused on the final turn, wore down THIS SIDE entering the last furlong and was all out to turn back the belated bid of WATCH IT GROW. The latter, unhurried while being outrun early, swung exceptionally wide when making his bid entering the stretch and was getting to the winnef. STIPEND had no apparent mishap in an even effort. THIS SIDE tired from his early pacemaking efforts. SPRINGLIKE found his best stride too late while racing wide. SECOND RACE 1 1-16 MILES. One Hitter, July 8, 1950—1 :42%— 4— 105. OBSTACLE, slow to settle in, stride, circled his field when rallying on the second turn, wore down BOMBAST with a rush entering the last quarter mile and won as if much the best. The latter made the pace while in hand, raced along the inner rail and succumbed readily to the winner. UNCLE GUS faltered after making a strong rally on the stretch turn. ROYAL SPY outsprinted his opposition from the start, raced true along the inner rail and was bard ridden to hold DODGER safe. The latter was never a great distance back, was forced to raced wide and was clearly best of the others. FRENCH BULL was rank to place while racing along the inside. CRY HAVOC broke sluggishly and raced wide. GENERAL ARTHUR had speed, but attempted to run out on the turn and faltered in the late stages. TIMELY BULL was always outrun. TONES BOY broke tardily. . WAR NEWS broke tardily, raced wide and finished fastest of all. COUNTESS TINA found her best stride too late while racing between horses. STOLEN HOUR gave an even performance. The latter unhurried early, was blocked along the inside from the five-sixteenths marker to midstretch where he finally was brought out to obtain racing room and while finishing full of run he was undoubtedly best PAPER TIGER found his best stride too late while closing a big gap. NASHUA went to his knees at the start, quickly recovered to gain a striking position while racing slightly wide, went inside of CAVORT when that one swnug wide in the run down the backstretch, then responded to urging while engaging FIND thereafter and in a long drive proved slightly best. „ The latter had speed from the outset, saved ground throughout and held on stubbornly while narrowly missing in a game performance. FISHERMAN broke alertly but was allowed to drop well off the early leaders, then circled his field when rallying on entering the stretch and finished fastest of all. JOE JONES was slow to reach his best stride, was blocked along the inside and forced to steady from the five sixteenths marker to midstretch and lacked the necesary rally when clear. LE BEAU_PRINCE was unhurried in the early stages, raced wide while making a bold bid on the stretch turn and appeared to hang slightly while under extreme pressure in the late stages. IMPASSE was never too serious a factor. CAVORT sprinted to a clear lead early, but commenced bearing out in the rundown the backstretch and gave way readily when challenged.
