Back at Blarney Farm there is a chestnut yeraling colt who is by Mr. Busher and from Two Bells and as Two Bells has now produced two stakes winners the aforementioned Prophets Bell and Spanish Cream and breeder McKinney says this colt has a lot of quality, he should be quite an addition to this years yearling consignment. Two Bells does not have a foal this year but she visits Daumier and at the farm are two each of colt and filly foals. The Jamestown matron, Selenga, has a grey colt by Oil Capitol while the stakes winning Rosemont matron, OAlison, has a bay colt by Roman and she returns to that sire. The bay gelding by Roman — Sylvan Song, who had been sold at Keene-land Summer Sales for 6,000 as a yearling, has been purchased by Randolph Rouse, a member of the Fairfax Hunt. The sale was of such recent origin that former owner Mrs. John Burke sold the horse and loaned her colors for Ricachos trip post-ward in the Virginia Gold Cup. His new owners current plans include starting the horse in the Connecticut Cup, the timber event at the Adjacent Hunts race meeting. Trainer D. M. "Mike" Smithwick will continue to train Ricacho.* The Maryland conditioner rode the horse in his first two outings, both of them point-to-points which Ricacho won easily. AAA A Virginian at Laurel on April 28 took a good look at Cedar Farms Concentrator , and at the odds, but trainer Frank Bonsai was not in sight. Concentrator came to the winners circle, having rewarded his backers the neat sum of 1.80. However, his trainer was enjoying a very important! , moment in his life — he had just watched his 19-year-old son, Frank Bonsai Jr. ride Hugh J. ODonovans Lancrel to win the " Maryland Hunt Cup, a feat which he had done with Bon Master in 1927 and 1928. To catch up with trainer "Downeys" record, young Bonsai will have to repeat in next years running of the famed timber • classic. He has scored in Virginia as he won the Virginia Gold Cup on the same horse in 1954. Racing and breeding ranks were depleted somewhat during the running of this years 3ffaryland Hunt Cup. Mrs. Joseph Walker Jr. wasnt worrying about her Rolling Plains Stables consignment to Saratoga as she watched the horses parade postward. Rigan McKinley was handling the starters • SJag. Amory Haskell was taking a postmans holiday, but the man who is always associated with Marylands timber races, Bryce Wing, again had to be absent. He serves as a steward at Laurel. j I
