— 1 Sportsman7s Park Honoring Arcaro Name Monday Feature for Famous Jockey Who Rode at Tracks First Meet in 1932 SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 5. — The sixth race, the Eddie Arcaro Purse, the featured event at Sportsmans Park Monday, will honor the famed jockey, who, like the National Jockey Club, operators of Sportsmans Park, is celebrating his 25th year in racing. Arcaro, regarded as one of the best jockeys of all time and winner of five Kentucky Derbys, will be on hand to greet the winning jockey in the winners circle and present him with a saddle manufactured by the firm in which Arcaro is a partner, " In the fall of 1932, Arcaro made his Sportsmans Park debut, riding several winners. At the time he was riding for Clarence E. Davison, a downstate owner whose horses were well regarded. Eiece-meal, a horse owned by G. R. Allen! was the first winner Arcaro rode at Sportsmans Park. This was on October 10, 1932. On Monday, Arcaro will be the guest at a luncheon in his honor in the penthouse of the clubhouse, and will witness the races from the solarium. He also will make a thorough inspection of the plant, which has been greatly improved since Eddie made his first appearance at the Cicero track. Johnson Saddles Entry The feature, which is over the one and one-sixteenth mile distance, attracted nine horses, including the entry of Mrs. Russell , L. Reineman and Phil G. Johnson. The latter, who also trains the horses, will send out Rosehue and Get for Home, both previous winners at the meeting. Rosehue won a six and one-half furlong affair on April 25 when she defeated Spy Lady by a neck to pay a large mutuel of 6.40. Get for Home registered his victory on opening day, winning at one mile to set up a new track record for the five-eighths mile strip. His time for the mile was 1:41. • Others in the Arcaro Purse are West Wing Farms Stroller, winner here on April 30; R. J. Westons Legal Time; Olen Sledges Tin Twist; W. Fords Direct Tint, also a winner at the meeting; Mrs. E. B. Shipps La Breeze; Mrs. H. Colemans War Secretary, and C. S. Handelmans Remhoh, the latter two also scoring victories at the meeting.
