INSOMNIA rallied strongly leaving the far turn. quickly wore down the leader leaving the eighth pole and drew off in the final sixteenth. NOWS THE TIME, slow to respond to pressure, closed with qood energy to outfinish the others. UTOPIA, laqqinq badly early, finished with a belated rush. MISS M. S. was giving improved speed when late. OREGAY flattened out under pressure. LONG TOM faltered badly in the last eighth. BANK COAL retired after a half mile. Utopia claimed by Mrs. M. K. DAngelo, trainer D. Ginsburg. G. Plaster; bred by T. Piatt. IN GATE-5:54. OFF AT 5:54J EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. EXPLANATION rushed to the leader from the inside entering the stretch and, after gaining command in midstretch and drawing clear, was able to withstand the late bid of BORDER SON. The latter, along the inside in the run down the backstretch, could not untrack himself, was taken to the outside entering the stretch and then closed with a sharp burst of speed. BROOKVILLE widened advantage going to the far turn but had little left when challenged by the winner and faltered in the late yards. SPEED TEST was forced to lose ground rallying outside horses and closed with good energy in the drive. BEWITCHING faltered under pressure. BACTRIA made a bid before three quarters, then weakened. DEVIL FLYER stopped badly. Scratched— 13433 Quick Lad, 113; 13085 Plain Jim, 113; 13186 Coaxial, 108. Overweight — Betsy Ann, 2 pounds. Border Son claimed by M. K. DAngelo. trainer D. Ginsburg.
