J., May 4. — Jockey Howard Grant, a -top draw- j ing card as the second leading rider in the , national standings, reported ill to track L physician J. Rodney Meredith, after riding in the first race on todays program and he was permitted to cancel his remaining I mounts. The indisposition was believed to I be slight and Grant is expected to fulfill his engagements here tomorrow. In the I j first race Grant rode Peine L. Grissoms Perdulario, the favorite, who had a tendency to climb in the early stages and rallied belatedly on the outside to finish third. -4
