t-.... ,. i. ...... Pornpoon to Be Pointed for Rich New England Futurity on Oct. 28 PAWTUCKET, R. I., Oct 7. Jerome H. Louchheims bay colt, Pompoon, out- standing two-year-old of 1936 and winner of the rich Belmont Futurity in record j time last Saturday, will now be pointed directly for New Englands richest and most I important stake, the New England Futurity, scheduled to be run at Narragansett Park, Wednesday, October 28. Such is the definite statement made by owner j Louchheim and trainer Cyrus Field Clarke to president Walter E. OHara this J morning. j Pompoon, distinguished son of a distinguished sire, Pompey, winner of the Bel- I mont Futurity in 1925, has proved a rare bargain for Jerry Louchheim. Purchased as a yearling from William R. Coe for the insignificant sum of ,000, but victorious in six of his seven starts to date, the big, slashing bay colt has already netted for j his owner the neat sum of 8,420, to head the list as the leading money-winning j juvenile of the season. A victory in the New England Futurity, which in its inaugural year will gross j in excess of 5,000, will boost Pompoons earnings way over the 00,000 mark. The colt, well mannered and easy to train, will be shipped to Narragansett within the j next ten days to prepare for his major effort here in New England. j i , , ......... ,
