Take Wraps Off Marciano; Champ Batters Sparmates GROSSINGER, N. Y., June 5 UP. His manager took the wraps off Rocky Marciano today and the heavyweight champion accepted the order by boxing five fast rounds with three sparmates. "From now bn the wraps are off Rocky," manager Al Weill said before the workout. "Weve been holding him back for reasons of our own, but I told trainer Charley Goldman to let him go. Youll see a real sharp fighter in a day or so." . Marciano, building up to his title fight with Ezzard Charles at Yankee Stadium, June 17, went two rounds with Willie Wilson, two with Bob Golden and one with Toxie Hall. Wilson especially was impressed with the champions condition. "I wish this training, job was over," the sparmate said, adding "Rocky h" too hard for safety ... I mean my own safety."
