I ] j | | I ■ I [ 1 JAMAICA TURF NOTES • $ Governor Ira Blackwood, of South Carolina, will head a delegation from the Iodine state to Louisville to witness the Derby. The governor has been invited by Clarence Buxton, who wintered at Columbia. Joe McLennan came over from Maryland on a business trip in connection with the Arlington Park and Hawthorne Stakes. Lavelle "Buddy" Ensor came over from Havre de Grace Monday and later left for Louisville, Ky. He will ride one of the Mrs. Whitney starters in the Derby. George H. Bull, a steward of the meeting, is limping around suffering with a bad foot. He broke a small bone Saturday. Jockey R. Leishman arrived from Maryland and will ride out the season here. His engagements will be made by George Woods. John McCambridge claimed Aldershot out of the last race Saturday from the B. B. Stable for ,000. Jockey S. Renick arrived from Havre de Grace and reported to trainer Smith of the Brookmeade Stable. Renick can do 100 pounds. Jockey F. Horn and Clarence Buxton left for Louisville. Tommy Gorman of the Con-naught Park Jockey Club, Ottawa, was a visitor. Jockey E. Shropshire turned in his riding license and decided to branch out as an owner. He will purchase three horses from W. R. Coe Tuesday for shipment to Sportsmans Park. Jockey Earl Sande received an offer from owner Daniel to ride Brandon Mint in the Kentucky Derby. Jockey A. Pascuma returned to the saddle Tuesday after a five day suspension. Jockey George Fields came up from Pim-lico and will ride here for the remainder of the New York season. Jockey George Arnold has signed to ride for the Geneseo Stable. Arnold rode with considerable success during the past winter at New Orleans. On Tap was purchased privately by W. N. Adrians and started in the colors of her new owner Tuesday. The B. B. Stable at private terms pur-I chased from the Pauline Stable What Have You. The latter was claimed out of his last race from Jack McPherson. Joe Edwards stated today that he will sell privately a few horses and a lead pony. Trainer H. C. "Doc" Riddle left for Louis- ville Tuesday to saddle J. J. Robinsons Lucky Tom in the Derby. Lucky Tom will be breezed Thursday morning.
