VERITY BALLOT, close to the pace throughout, responded gamely to hard urging in the stretch and outlasted IMELDA in a driving finish. IMELDA began fast and, showing good speed in the going, held on well when challenged, but could not last. DARK AYR saved all possible ground, but could not get to the front. TAT could not keep up. LORD VALENTINE was cut off soon after the start. DRYDOCK was in close quarters at the start and almost unseated his rider. Scratched— 69656 Single C, 100 ; 69431 Normahal, 105. OLD BILL, saved close to the pace in the early stages, came fast when urged in the stretch and, wearing idown OLD KICKAPOO, won drawing out. OLD KICKAPOO, saving ground throughout, took a good lead when BUNTING LAD began to tire on the stretch turn, but quit badly in the final sixteenth. BOGAN finished well to outgame GOLDEN LIGHT. MISS DELIGHT and REX REGENT did not figure. JEANNE WACHS showed good form in the going and held on fairly well. BLUE LAW moved up after half the distance, but did not threaten the leaders. BILL ORANGE seemed to dislike the going.
