ADDED TO CLASSIC EIGIBLES ! Fitzsimmons Names Five More to Rich Arlington Stake. Lassie Stakes May Be Worth 0,000 Mrs. ! Hertz, Bradley and Greentree Stable "" Name Five Each". The powerful New York racing establishment handled by James Fitzsimmons, em- bracing the horses of William Woodwards ; Belair Stud, Mrs. H. C. Phipps and Ogden , Mills Wheatley Stable, and H. C. Phipps, is expected to play a formidable role in the thirty days of Arlington Park racing, it was j indicated by their nominations; just received, to the five Arlington stakes closing on June 3. Belairs entries for the 5,000 Classic were received some time ago, but trainer ; Fitzsimmones has just sent in the nominations to this stake, of the Wheatley Stables Utopian, Edelweiss and Iseult, and Mr. Phipps Balios and Enthusiast. Each of these stables entered three juveniles in the ,500 added Hyde Park Stakes, while the Wheat-ley Stable named Dark Secret for the Arlington Inaugural and Mr. Phipps nominated De Valera for the same event. Dark Secret, winner of the rich Potomac Handicap , and other events last season, also is a candidate for the Stars and Stripes and Arlington Handicaps, each of which is worth 0,000 added, along with the veteran Blenheim. The latter captured the Brooklyn, Brookdale, Empire City, Aqueduct and Edgemere Handicaps last year and finished second in the Spindrift Handicap, Saratoga Cup and Jockey Club Gold Cup. Trainer Fitzsimmons may augment his group of stakes candidates with other useful members of his large band, and he is expected to bring with him his two jockeys, Hank Mills and Tommy Malley, both of whom rank among the topnotchers. A purse of 0,000 or more for the fifth running of the Arlington Lassie Stakes, is indicated by the roster of candidates after the final closing on May 15, Roy Carruthers, managing director of the Arlington Park Jockey Club announced today. The 0,000 added event for two-year-old fillies embraces eighty-one eligibles and the total pool to date amounts to 9,000. The starting fee is ,000. Mrs. John Hertz, whose Risque won the second running of the Lassie, vies with Edward R. Bradley, Greentree Stable and Cornelius V. Whitney for the honor of having the most candidates for the Lassie, each having five nominees. Three of Mrs. Hertzs eligibles are daughters of Reigh Count. Mata Hari, Far Star and Constant Wife, the crack fillies uncovered by Clyde Van Dusen for the Dixiana Stable, are Lassie hopes. Mata Hari, winner of both her starts in sensational fashion, is being especially pointed for the Lassie. Audley Farm, whose Hilena. accounted for the Lassie last summer by running the six furlongs in 1:10, fastest time on record for a juvenile, is represented in the 1933 renewal by a pair of promising misses, while among the hopes of the Whitney stable, winner in 1931 with Top Flight, is Goose-flesh, a daughter of the Belmont Futurity winner, Mother Goose. Many other royally-bred fillies from such well-known racing establishments as those of Calumet Farm, W. R. Coe, H. P. Headley, K. E. Hitt, Willis Sharpe Kilmer, S. W. Labrot, Otto W. Lehmann, Llangollen Stable, Adolphe Pons,. A. C. and M. L. Schwartz, Shandon Farm, Wheatley Stable, George D. and Joseph E. Widener are included among the Lassie candidates.
