OHIO DOUBLE PAYS ,836 Bainbridge Park Fans Are Given Annual Thrill in Big Pay-Off. Impeach Again Proves Surprise, Leading Good Field in Memorial Handicap Large Crowd Attends. GEAUGA LAKE, Ohio, May 30. Racing enthusiasts at Bainbridge Park, where several big "Daily Double" pay-offs have been registered in the past, witnessed another today, when outsiders won the second and third races, and the return on the winning combination amounted to 52,836.80. The races were won by Ruth Jelinek, paying certificates of 1.20, and Miss Avondale, 2.80. Only one Double" ticket was sold, this to Frank J. Bittner, a Cleveland business man. This was not a Bainbridge record for the "Daily Double," however. In May, 1932, there was one of the value of ,883 and in the following month another paid ,062. L. Clous Impeach gave evidence again today that he is just about the most improved horse racing at Bainbridge at the present time, especially when he gets in under light weight. Following up his victory of last Friday, he captured this afternoons Memorial Day Handicap, at three-quarters of a mile, defeating an even stronger field than he met and conquered last week. Today he had up only 100 pounds. Anna Adelia came through with another sparkling performance and finished second to Impeach. Friend Charley was third and the inconsistent Cambridgeshire again failed his supporters. The latter carried top weight of 120 pounds. Anna Adelia set a rapid pace to the stretch, with Black Mammy and Cambridgeshire following in closest pursuit. Friend Charley and Impeach were following, with Towee far in the rear and very sore. Saving ground through the stretch, Impeach came strongly and after a rare display of gameness nailed Anna Adelia in the final stride. Friend Charley finished a length away. Black Mammy and Cambridgeshire both tired rapidly after reaching the stretch and bore out during the run home. Towee was plainly in no fit condition to race, being very sore and after trailing far back .throughout pulled up decidedly lame. A tremendous holiday crowd, much the largest of the meeting, taxed the capacity of the accommodation of the spacious stand and lawns. The track proper was at its best and the weather pleasant. Jockey T. Reno commenced the day well by piloting the first winner, Buzzy Boo. Taking command at once, the Johnson color-bearer was never headed and retained a safe margin over her opposition all through the stretch. Polaire weakened during the stretch test, which enabled Back Kick to secure the second award rather handily. From a slow beginning Step Pretty forced Polaire to do his best to save third. A real surprise developed when Ruth Jelinek, a despised outsider, showed in front at all stages of the second race, scoring by a. neck from the strongly finishing Flowery Lady. Red Boot and Fair Billy were keen factors to the stretch head, where Campdore moved up on the inside and June G. on the outside. In the final drive Campdore proved the gamer for the minor award. Another upset developed with the running of the third race In which Miss Avondale, little regarded and grouped in the field, led by a safe margin for the entire trip. Josephine D. and Lady Oldham, never far from the winner, divided the minor awards, finishing in this order two lengths apart. Nora D. and Flora Canter caused a tedious post delay of almost ten minutes due to their unruly actions and neither cut any figure in the race. Dozeless, from the stable of H. Herendeen, raced over Fire Neck at the turn in the fourth race and drew away through the stretch to win with ease. Jockey J. Ley- land had the mount and it marked the maiden victory for the son of Dozer. Fire Neck was much the best of the remainder. It was only after a hard drive that Cantroud saved third from Mature.
