YEARLINGS BY MANY SIRES ♦ — More Than Fifty Budding Racers in A. B. Hancock Consignment. 1 Ellerslie Farm Oldest Thoroughbred Nursery in Virginia— Hancock Vendue Is Largest on Saratoga August List. #. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., July 16.— A wide range of choice in stallions will be offered buyers at the yearling sale of Arthur B. Hancock, which the Fasig-Tipton Company of New York City will conduct here the night of August 10. With fifty-odd budding racers from Ellerslie Farm, which Is in the Virginia Piedmont and is the oldest thoroughbred nursery of the Old Dominion, and Claiborne, which is in Bourbon County, Kentucky, catalogued, the Hancock vendue will be the largest of an August carnival of sales that will be characterized by the disposition of between 600 and 700 head. All the great studs that breed for the market will contribute to this carnival and with racing booming in all parts of the country it is safe to assume that the yearlings will bring better prices than did the lots sold last August and the year before. The new stallions represented in this catalog are the son of Sir GaUahad III., Gallant Fox, champion American three-year-old of 1930; and The Scout, a stake winner in England; Toro, The Porters greatest son, conqueror of Sun Beau in the Lincoln Handicap; Petee-Wrack, son of Wrack and Marguerite and half brother of Gallant Fox and conqueror of Reigh Count in the Travers at Saratoga, and Sun Edwin, a brilliant son of Sun Briar, which is serving with The Scout and Petee-Wrack at Ellerslie. Gallant Fox is represented in this seasons two-year-old racing by Omaha, a half brother of Fleam, and Jeanne S., a two-time winner in claiming company. Gov. Sholtz, nee Torress, four times a winner, and Mad Bull have demonstrated that Toro would have accomplished big things had he lived. He died last year. Sun Edwin is the sire of a two-time winner in Ado. The sire of fifteen of last seasons two-year-old winners, one of them High Quest, Sir Gallahad III. is represented in this years juvenile racing by the winners Motto, which beat the brilliant Angelic at Belmont Park, Sir Lamorak and Galomar. Motto has won four times. Stimulus, son of Ultimus and Hurakan, sire of Sgt. Byrne, Slapdash, Croon, Lodorus, Riskulus, Border Knight, Hug Again, Ancelot and Merrie Marie, all of which won in last seasons two-year-old racing, is the sire of this seasons juvenile winners Sweetbloom, Vermouth, Ouragan, Aperitif, Lan, Donna Julia, Chang and Nandi. Sickle, sire of last seasons juvenile winners Jabot, Agrarian, Kawagoe, Willow King, Sickle Pear, Triangular and Devilish has contributed Moisson, Charmed Eyes, Per-sickle, Little Lie and Fading Light to this seasons juveniles.
