BET ON CLASSIC DAY I I The largest amount bet in the mutuels this year on a Chicago track was recorded Saturday, Classic Day, at Arlington Park, when 53,573 was bet on the eight races, surpassing last year on Classic Day when 13,232 was bet. Wagering on the Classic totaled 31,757, against 10,929 in the same race a year ago. The cash gate was the greatest since the admission was reduced to two years ago, according to an Arlington official.
