July 16 — Cavalcade, winner of the Classic and four other stakes this season, has been assigned ten pounds over the scale and rated two pounds better than Equipoise, champion older horse, in the weights for the Arlington Handicap, issued today by handicapper John B. Campbell. The Brookmeade Stables three-year-old i champion must carry 124 pounds in Saturdays 0,000 added mile and a quarter spe- 1 i cial if he starts. Equipoise was assigned 134 pounds, or eight pounds above the scale. Robert A. Smith, trainer of Cavalcade, has intimated that the colt would not start Saturday but has not definitely made up his , j I mind. Of the horses being pointed for the event, , Ladysman and Indian Runner are outstand- I . ing and each must carry 120 pounds.
