DAVE McDANIEL DIES NEW YORK, N. Y., April 18. Dave Mc-Daniel, veteran horseman and brother of Henry McDaniel, aged 73, died today at his Brooklyn home following a heart attack suffered two days ago. McDaniel at the time of his passing was not well known to the present turf generation, having retired some years back. He saddled Monarch, winner of the Dixie in 1882, and the following year he sent out Lord Raglan to finish third to Leonatus in the Kentucky Derby. His principal training assignments were with Noah Armstrong and the firm of Weideman and Day. He is survived by four sons, D. R. "Puddin" and Bruce, who are active on the four metropolitan courses, and two younger boys, one 9 and the other 13 years of age. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at his home, 1823 Avenue S., Brooklyn, N. Y.
