GOLD STANDARD, rated close to the leaders until leaving the back stretch, took command under pressure then withstood a long drive in the last three-sixteenths to stall off ROYAL COMMAND. The latter, in the thick of contention from the beginning, challenged strongly midway ofthe final turn, was bothered slightly by the riderless LEALETTE, and fought it out stubbornly all during the closing stages when clear. SOUWESTER was on the outside while holding a contending position, but could not threaten In the closing test. COURT GOSSIP was racing strongly in the late stages. QUEEN HELEN weakened gradually after being displaced. VOLGADALE was unable to enter contention. CANIMAR was shuffled back early and was never a factor. TITIAN KIDDIE showed early speed. DRAWN SWORD, quick to settle into his best stride, moved clear when reaching the turn, was placed to punishment midway of the home stretch, and held SQUAWKER safe nearing the finish. SQUAWKER worked his way up gradually, responded to pressure, and came resolutely in the closing drive. OTWAY went prominently placed and held on willingly in the closing test. ROYAL BALLAD was squeezed back when the start came, recovered quickly to move up on the outside, swerved out badly entering the home stretch, but came strongly when straightened out. DIXIE DORA displayed nice speed to enter early contention, but tired when urged. SIGHTING BAR met with early interference and fell back steadily. The others were never dangerous. FLOWER SHOW, forced to race on the outside, responded to punishment and closed with good courage. GALLA, outrun, for the first . three-eighths, swung wide into the home stretch and closed gamely. JOHN TIO was under stout pressure from the beginning and had no excuses. CANROCK was hard ridden, but could not engage the leaders. SURRY broke well, but lacked early speed. BALLAD SINGER weakened steadily after the first three-eighths. OLD DOMINION had speed during the opening sixteenth. The others were unable to threaten. Start good and slow. Won easily; second and third driving. TODAY, permitted to settle in his best stride before moving to the pacemakers, gained fast in the last half mile, swung to the outside to take command entering the home stretch, then drew out as if much the best. NAUTCH, rated close to BACHELOR DINNER in the first half while saving ground, was placed to a hard drive when reaching the home stretch, but was no match for the winner. BACHELOR DINNER had nice speed while setting the pace, but was not good enough to maintain his position- when put to a drive. CRISTATE could not make up any ground in the late-stages. ENTHUSIASM displayed keen speed to open, up a good lead in the first half mile, saved ground, but could not resist the winner after being placed to punishment. DOKAS went forwardly while finding racing room on the inside and held on determinedly in the closing issue. BOSTON BROOK, in tight quarters early, was taken back to find racing room on the inside and then came gamely when clear. CREDULOUS weakened after a half mile. SPEED-MORE wore FLAMING MAMIE down early to takfr a slight lead, was steadied-along-until reaching the home stretch and held on well when challenged. ABBOTTS LAST, slow to settle in his stride, moved up fast in the last half mile while racing vjde, but hung after getting on almost even terms with, the leaders in the last furlong. CHARTRES went forwardly, saved ground and had no excuses. SLIPPER KING faltered after making his move at the final turn. PRINCE ABBOT failed to rally when called on. FLAMING MAMIE stopped. INFERNO LAD followed close up in the early running, responded when called on, but failed to threaten the winner. STANDOUT bettered his position gradually and finished full of run. MINTANA could not reach a contending position and passed tiring horses at the end. TRIOLET was never a factor. FOREIGN LADY was unable to menace.
