LATONIA STAKES CLOSE MAY 2 Nomination Blanks for Covington Features Ready Latonia Derby Cut to Mile and a Quarter. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 18. With all of. the eight stakes to be run during the Latonia Jockey Clubs thirty-seven day Latonia meeting from May 25 to July 6, inclusive, closing at midnight, May 2, nomination . blanks for the features which will make their appearance tomorrow, promise to be in immediate demand. Entry blanks will be mailed to owners of the larger stables with a general distribution of the bianks through the racing departments of all tracks operating during the next fortnight, according to judge Price, who is in charge of racing at all American Turf Association tracks. Carrying 2,500 in added money, the eight stakes are headed by the 5,000 added Latonia Derby, with a provision of ,000 additional to the winner, if he or she happens to have won the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. The Latonia Derby this year will be run over a mile and one-quarter, a quarter mile reduction in distance from previous years. It is for three-year-olds. The Inaugural Handicap, Enquirer Handicap, Independence Handicap and Quickstep Handicap, all for three-year-olds and over; the Latonia Oaks, for three-year-olds; Clipsetta Stakes, for juvenile fillies and Cincinnati Trophy, for two-year-old colts and geldings, completes the roster of stakes and handicaps. All entries and communications should be forwarded to the Latonia Jockey Club, Covington, Ky.
