R0SEM0NT IN THE SPECIAL Foxcatcher Farms Star Nominated for Narragansetts 5,000 Prize. 4 Cavalcade, Discovery, Azucar, Head Play, Mate, King Sason and Faireno Among Eligibles. PAWTUCKET, R. I., June 5. Correct in his belief that additional nominations for the valuable Narragansett Special were on the way here, racing secretary Pat Horgan this morning announced receipt of the necessary papers nominating the Foxcatcher Farms slashing three-year-old Rosemont,, which defeated Omaha, winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, in the historic Withers a few days ago at Belmont Park. Assistant secretary Ben Holmes returned from a trip today to throw on the desk a nomination for C. H. "Pat" Knebelkamps sensational bay colt, King Saxori, this years handicap attraction at the New York tracks. Still another piece of news for New England racing fans is the information that Mrs. S. B. Mason, Kentucky sportswoman, will" play a strong hand in the Special with her grand campaigner, Head Play, the five-year-old son of My Play Red Head, which culminated his fine winter winning streak on the coast with a smashing performance in the Suburban two days ago, thus establishing himself as one of the best horses In training. Mrs. Mason plays a strong second string with the sterling three-year-old, Sun Portland, which demonstrated his class by defeating Roman Soldier in the Illinois Derby. Other nominations of interest are those of Whiskolo, third to Omaha in the Kentucky Derby, and the solid stake horse of the Catawba Farm Stable, Mr. Khayyam. The Specials preliminary closing reveals the class of the country nominated for this valuable stake. Outstanding among the "twenty-eight horses named are Cavalcade, Discovery, Azucar, Mate, Head Play, Faireno, Time Supply, King Saxon, Statesman and Mr. Khayyam, of the older horses, to face the best of the three-year-old crop, in Omaha, Rosemont, Sun Portland and Whiskolo. The supplementary closing of the Special, which entails an additional nomination fee and is set for July 15, is expected to bring in several other candidates found to be in exceptional form, and will unquestionably establish Narragansetts big race, set for August 21, the most important horse race of 1935.
