SIR AJAX, prominent all the way, came gamely in the stretch and outlasted WITSON in a hard drive. WITSON, away well, saved ground all the way and held on gamely. POPULAR VOTE, well placed in the early running, but on the outside, lost ground, moved up fast in the stretch, but tired at the end. WONDER RUN finished gamely. RUNMILTON closed fast. MECAT forced the early pace, came to the outside of LITTLE V. on the stretch turn, wore down the latter entering the stretch and, holding on gamely after taking the lead, held MORTIME safe and pulled up lame. MORTIME, prominent all the way, finished gamely in the final drive. LITTLE V. showed good speed in the pacemaking, but tired in the stretch. OUR PRIDE was outrun and had no excuses. The latter took the lead with a rush after going-a quarter, held on gamely when challenged and just failed to last; BETTIE JOE broke fast, moved into contention,,with a rush on the outside, but tired slightly near the end. The latter, under restraint for the first three-quarters, closed gamely in the stretch and was wearing down the winner nearing the finish. PORTFOLIO, unprepared at the start, was forced to race wide all the way and finished gamely. BLUE FOAM, fractious at the post, was started from outside the gate, broke well, crossed over on the field going to the first turn,was sent into a long lead in the first half mile, but tired badly.
